LONDON

THE CITY

A 21st century city with a history that dates back to the Roman Times. The capital of England and the United Kingdom, this is home to the British Royal Family and one of the most iconic sites of the world, Big Ben.

The hustle and bustle of the city is combined with famous landmarks left and right. A popular tourist destination for things to do, and places to see.

VISA/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need to ensure that your passport is valid throughout the length of your stay in the UK. Most passport holders are able to obtain a 6 month tourist visit at a no cost. If you're second guessing that your country may need additional entry requirements, do check online to see what else you may need.

I wouldn't say that London is lenient in terms of overstaying, there are penalties for anyone who overstays beyond their visa expiration date but it's just not that big of a deal if it does happen. As with anything do follow rules and regulations and don't risk it, if you need to extend your visa, go for it as it's a much better option than taking the risk of having to overstay.

CURRENCY

British Pounds is the currency in London. ATM's are easily accessible everywhere. Debit and credit cards are accepted everywhere.

TRANSPORTATION

The Underground Train - A public transportation recognized worldwide, the Underground train in London is must when you're in the city. Buy a Compass card to use the public train as much as possible. It is the most convenient and inexpensive way to get around the city.

Double Decker Bus - You've seen these everywhere, if you haven't, you must've been living in the cave. Even if you're not intending to use it to go anywhere, just hop on one and experience it.

Walk - Most of the things in London are within walking distance, well.. at least for me. Some required me to take the train or the bus but walking is also a good way to get from one site to another site (within walking distance of course).

THINGS TO DO

Parliament Hill Viewpoint - The perfect spot to get away from the busy city and see the skyline of London.

Big Ben - One of the most iconic sites in the world. A must if you're in London.

Underground Train - Another thing you need to experience as you navigate around the city.

Abbey Road - This is an intersection where The Beatles  had a shoot for one of their album covers. You will see a lot of tourists re-enacting this walking pose and taking snaps here.

The London Eye - Go on this ride to see a panoramic view of London from way up.

Little Venice - A great spot to have a snack and go on a boat ride.

China Town - The spot to grab a grub.

Piccadilly Circus - You can watch the world go by here. Sit back and relax the chaotic, busy streets.

Buckingham Palace - If you're lucky like me, you will see the Royal Family here. I may have just made that up.

Leicester Square - A great place to take a stroll.

Tower Bridge - Go inside the bridge and learn the important role this bridge played back then and what it is now.

Sky Garden - See the view of the city from way up. A good place to grab some snacks and beverages while soaking in the view.

The Shard - This is one of the tallest buildings in Europe standing at 310 m high. You can admire it from the streets or right across in the Sky Garden.

Millennium Bridge - Another bridge worth visiting.

English Pubs - We all know drinking is one of the favourite past times in the UK. You need to experience a traditional English pub.

St. Paul's Cathedral - A church that sits on the highest point of the city.

The busy city of London offers a variety of impressive sites to see. Some may say that the city is "too commercial". It is a hot tourist destination spot and I can see why some may feel this way about the city, but it's still one of those places that you shouldn't avoid because it's too touristy.
